Sun: Part Shade, Shade
Soil Moisture: Medium-Wet, Medium

Bloom Time: May, June

Maintenance: As clumps become crowded, flowering may decrease. If this occurs, divide the plants.
Deer resistant: Irritant compounds in this plant make it toxic to animals such as deer and rabbits, so may be a dependable choice for an area with higher deer traffic.
Suggested Use: Anemone canadensis is a great groundcover option for areas with sufficient moisture. This hardy, shade loving plant has mastered the ART of SPREADING with its thick rhizomes that form gorgeous, though tricky to contain, colonies.
Attracts: Pollinators that love this plant include small bees, such as miner and sweat bees, as well as hoverflies.
Tips: Canada anemone is very adaptable and can become quite aggressive in too favorable conditions. May be propagated by root cuttings taken in spring or by division in either fall or early spring. Each piece of rhizome should be several inches long and placed a foot apart at a depth of 1/2 in.
